Wow I can't believe we are at 800 posts already! I am so surprised that it came up so quickly! We will be at 1000 in no time at this rate!
So I thought I would do a retrospective of our past 799 posts. I am going to link to them so you can check them out if you would like to!
Our first post was on 8/7/08, and it was a post of just a picture of each cat. The next day, 8/8, is when I really did their full introductions. Virgil was just a tiny kitten back then, and I had started the blog so that our vets office, where he had lived before he lived with us, could watch him grow up (not that they wouldn't see him, but they wouldn't see him every day). He was about 5 weeks old at that point. We had him, and we also had Lola, Kirzon and Floyd, our big boy.
We didn't get our first comment until 1/22/09 on this post of Virgil and his kitten lips, when we were linked to on Cute Overload. There are earlier posts with comments, but the first actual comment by date was on 1/22.
Shortly after that post (which was actually posted on 1/14/09) that same day, is when I posted about how sick Floyd was. I hadn't been getting too many comments but did get some on that and I was amazed.
I started to get the occasional comment here and there, and on 3/19/09 I did a post that got a response from the fabulous Huffle Mawson, because we joined the Cats with Blogs site. Then on April 1 I found out about the cat blogosphere. Kirzon and Virgil joined the Tuxedo Gang Hideout, we were introduced by our friends at Life from a Cat's Perspective, and we have been growing ever since!
June 17, 2009 was a big day for us - that is the day Barney moved in. He was another little guy who had been living at the vets office - he was such a cutie, I knew he had to join our family. It was fun because by that point we had regular readers, and it was great to get to share his homecoming with them.
On July 4, 2009 it was Virgil's first birthday - and we got a record 17 comments. As I look at them now I see friends who aren't blogging anymore and I see others who I don't think I ever visited (I still didn't have the hang of everything at that point - I still don't). I wish I had - maybe I will go back and do that when I have time. Then a month later on 8/7/09 we had our first blogoversary! I had started blogs before and they had lasted about a week at most, so I was amazed to reach that point!
Things were going along well, and our little family of 5 was doing good, until October when Floyd got sicker. On one of the sadest days I know, Floyd went to the Rainbow Bridge, on 10/30/09. I still cry thinking about it because I miss him so much. But the outpouring of support we got that day was just so amazing, and so helpful.
After that things got back to normal for a while. We had commentathons, pictures, the great blizzquake of 2010. We made friends and lost some, some went to the bridge, some just decided to stop blogging. We were going along well, and realized we were ready to add to our little family. So on 4/7/10 we introduced you to a group of newborn kittens, 2 of whom you would come to know well! And then on 5/31/10 we officially had Gus and Stella join our group.
After that life kept going - friends came and went, work sucked (as I mention all the time), but during that time, around July, we met a lady named Chrystal who runs a private rescue - and she was our Friday Friend on July 23,2010. Little did I know back then that this would be an even more important meeting than I realized!
After that we had lots of joy, lots of sadness with friends going to the bridge, and lots of fun. In October of 2010 I decided to steal an idea from one of our dog blog friends, and the adventures of Hugo the traveling Hippo began. He reached his first stop on 10/14/10 and has been traveling ever since!
Shortly after Hugo arrived on the scene, Chrystal was able to arrange for her first adoption through the Winnie's Wish campaign, and we were lucky enough to assist with this transport in the Dash for Ash on 10/30 (posted on 11/1, as 10/30 was the one year anniversary of Floyd leaving, we wanted to do a post about him that day). I hadn't ever met a cat that was so sweet and loving to people after such a short amount of time, and I knew Chrystal had to have some magic to raise such special kitties. She had taken in some ferals and I had thought they were all just adorable. But then one day I just fell in love with a certain little tuxie girl, and on 2/9 of this year we made the big announcement that we were adopting littile Tuxie to become our own baby Trixie! On 2/19 she came home and well, that basically brings us to today!
I hope this isn't too long - I would have posted more links but there are so many it was tough to pick! I hope you enjoy the look back, and I hope we will be here for a lot longer! We are so glad to have met all of our friends out there in teh blogosphere! Thanks for all being so wonderful!
