The Big Announcement!!

So today we have a big announcement!! I was going to wait til after the contest was over so we could spread out the fun news but honestly I just couldn't wait any longer!

So, a lot of you know about Chrystal from Daily Dose of Dogs (aka Cats with your Coffee).  For those of you who don't, Chrystal does private animal rescue down in Southern Illinois.  And this winter Chrystal has taken in a lot of dogs and cats who needed help, including 6 feral kittens and their mom who she was able to catch back on October 8 (well, she got some the 8th and the rest later).   They are all gorgeous, and they decided that because the mom was so feral they would spay and release her (but she has shelter and a feeder human nearby, and seems to be getting more comfortable with people because she feeds near the house now), but since the kittens were still young they knew they could teach them that humans are actually ok. Well, they did, and the kittens are ready for their forever homes. One, Mitts, is already at hers, but there were still 5 - 4 gray babies and 1 tuxie (or 4 girls and 1 boy - 3 gray girls, 1 tuxie girl and a gray boy). So one day as I was reading the blog, and thinking boy she has so many gorgeous babies there, and I saw a picture of Tuxie (yes, that is the tuxie baby) and I just fell in love. I can't explain it but I just felt like she is supposed to be our kitty. So - da da da da (that is supposed to be a trumpet fanfare) I would like to announce that on February 19 (weather permitting) we will be meeting up with Chrystal to pick up our newest HoC kitty, Tuxie - who will become Trixie (seriously even her name being so close to the one I wanted to use makes me think it just has to be fate). Lola has been doing really well, and she will always have "her room" to go to if she is nervous (and seriously after dealing with the Flying Walendas - I mean Gus and Stella - I think she is ready for anything), and hopefully it won't be necessary - I think that she knows she has her room if she needs it and that really helps her do well. Luckily for me I have Brad who loves the cats so much and was totally understanding when I said that I just knew she had to be our cat.

So I emailed Chrystal and said that we wanted to adopt her for our own - and lucky for us she was still available and so we talked about the details and well, like I said, weather permitting she will be here soon!! She is fairly close in age to Gus and Stella so I think it will work out really well - they get another playmate, and Barney and Virgil get to have someone that can play so they can rest (I swear that sometimes they take turns playing with Stella and Gus - one plays and the other sits up high and watches, then they switch, then back again - it is funny to watch them watching the kittens).  Chrystal is announcing it at her blog too (if you haven't been there already be sure to head over) and well, we are just so excited at our house!!

I will have more details as we get closer and of course I will get tons of pictures!! So everyone please ask Mother Nature to be nice and keep the weather clear for us!!
