UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Since it has been quite a long time since we have been active, we are going to be Under Construction for a while - trying new fonts, designs, and updating our sidebar stuff. Hopefully we will get it how we like it soon so it won't change too much!

Also - Can someone tell me how to get rid of the giant gap below this notice - I cannot figure out how to do it - thanks!!

Friends on Friday

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to our Friends on Friday post for this week! Today we have a couple different blogs that help homeless kitties!

First, we have one lots of people know - The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee! They are pretty well known, but I had to post today because they are doing fund raising again this year for the dog-a-thon for The Humane Society of Tacoma and Pierce County. Now, we know it says Dog-a-thon but all the money raised by the IBKC goes to the kitties - last year they started with a goal of 2 thousand (or as they like to call it, 2 squillion) and ended up getting more than 20 squillion! This year they are trying for 40 squillion - they are pretty close but could use a little help. The money last year went to building a brand new quarantine room at the shelter!! My dad's side of the family is from Tacoma (my dad grew up there) so it is extra special to me to help them out!

Next we have a blog we just started following, that has only been around since March, called daily dose of dogs (aka cats with your coffee). This is a blog about cats and dogs who have been rescued - by someone doing this pretty much completely on their own. She takes in dogs and cats who need help - something that is just so amazing. Some of the stories will make you cry but they are all so good at showing how people can really be good.

We also have to mention a third blog we follow - Covered in Cat Hair. Robyn just (like this past week or so) decided to leave the shelter she was working with and strike out on her own doing rescues of cats and kittens in dire need. She, and the others above, are all great inspirations to me - I hope to one day follow in their footsteps!

Please, if you haven't been by, go to visit these three - they are all blogs with a great cause (and we know there are lots more out there who could join this group. I will probably list a few more next Friday!)

So this will be a quiet weekend here - I am reposting my July 25th post from last year - it would have been my mom's 69th birthday - the few days around that are always a bit tough. But we will be back on Monday - have a great weekend!!

Thank you for introducing us to your friends. Those are good humans to help out the kitties. May you find comfort this weekend as you remember your mother.

I'm sorry about your mom. I understand how tough it can be ~ even many years later. But it is good to remember and miss those we have loved. The pain is always equal to the love you felt ~ that's why it hurts so much.

((((((hugs))))))

This is such a nice feature - a good way to meet other bloggers without being overwhelmed by a ton of them. You have a lot of very kind rescue friends.

We loved all the photos in your previous post, especially the one in the bowl. And those snugglers are just too cute.

Have a good weekend.

I can't even express what it means to me that you have listed my blog in your Friday Friends post. As you know, I'm trying to gain readers so that I might attract an advertiser to help with the BIG costs of rescue. You have now contributed to that effort - by reading the blog yourself, and by introducing it to YOUR readers.

A word about your mom. I'll keep you in my thoughts. My mom was very sick a few weeks ago. The prognosis was not good. I still have her and we celebrated her birthday on July 21. I don't yet know the pain you've experienced, but I'll keep you in my heart as you go through this "anniversary" time.

And THANKS again for introducing my blog to your friends.

Amy, we hope that this weekend you focus on the precious memories of your mother and remember the hundreds of ways she helped you become the beautiful person you are! Celebrate her with music and laughter, not tears.

That's very young to die, I can imagine that you miss your mom. She was only two years older then I am now !
It's so nice to know that there are people in the whole world who try to help cats and animals in general.
