Happy First Birthday Gus and Stella!

So, today is Gus and Stella's first birthday! Welcome to the celebration!

We are so excited that we get to have a double birthday this year - and the fact that it is their first birthday makes it even more exciting! Gus and Stella were born one year ago today in Texas. See, right before they were born, we had let our vets office know that we were ready for another adddition to our family - Floyd had left for the bridge in October of 2009, and we wanted to wait a bit before we took in another kitty. So we let them know that if any kittens came in needing homes we would take it (or them if there were two together).  We had gotten both Virgil and Barney that way, and it worked out great, so I thought that it would be a good way to help another cat. Well, shortly after that, Kelly, the nurse at the vets office, gave me a call and told me that her daughters in Texas had taken in a pregnant stray (she was too tame to really call feral) and would we like a kitten (or two if that was the case) and of course we were thrilled! So, on March 31, 2010, Gus (then Twist) and Stella entered the world (along with their brothers and sisters, Cosmo (then Han) and Louise, who Kelly took, and Io and Luna, who Sarah took - Megan kept their mom Mackie), though other than knowing Gus was first born, I have no clue about the order of the rest. Here are some pictures from their first few weeks, before they joined the House of Cats:

















Gus and Stella (along with Cosmo and Louise) moved up here in May, and boy, they did great pretty quickly - they didn't really take much guff from anyone.









And now today, they turn one year old! It is amazing how much they have changed! Gus is HUGE - the biggest cat in the house - but just a total sweetheart. And Stella well she is just a sassy tomboy and she isn't afraid to show it!





Ok, ok, so before this post gets too long (I know, too late), it is time to start the Birthday Party for all our friends! Not only to celebrate Gus and Stella but also all their brothers and sisters too - Cosmo, Louise, Io and Luna. And heck we should celebrate their mom Mackie too since she brought them into this world! So come in, enjoy the party, and thank you all for joining us on this special day! We have lots of treats for all our cat and dog friends, and of course all our human friends are welcome to stay - there are some treats for you too.
