UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Since it has been quite a long time since we have been active, we are going to be Under Construction for a while - trying new fonts, designs, and updating our sidebar stuff. Hopefully we will get it how we like it soon so it won't change too much!

Also - Can someone tell me how to get rid of the giant gap below this notice - I cannot figure out how to do it - thanks!!

Virgil's Gotcha Day!

Wow, with all the craziness going on, I almost forgot about Virgil's gotcha day today! So I thought I would write a bit about how we got Virgil - our first kitten in years - and the start of what would become a crazy house of cats!

So, it all started in 2008, I am guessing on July 26 (or right around there). I went in with Floyd, and they told me about a kitten that had been brought in - he was very little, and had been found on someones front porch step, along with a sibling, who was attacked by some larger animal and sadly didn't make it. But Virgil had, and he was there until he found a new home.

I went back to see him - he was the tiniest little guy I had ever seen. And he was just adorable. He could already eat on his own, which was impressive for his age. Now, at this point I hadn't been thinking about adding to our group - we had Floyd, Kirzon, and Lola at the time, and Lola was 9 at that point, and the youngest. Kirzon and Floyd liked her but I thought it might be nice for her to have a playmate, because she was still playing and they weren't really into it. And I was totally in love with the little tuxie boy - I took a couple photos and headed home, planning to talk to Brad about it.

We decided that it would be nice to have a new kitten, and hoped that he would be a good playmate for Lola when he got a bit bigger, so I called up the vet to let them know we would love to take him, and that his name would be Virgil (like in Dante's Inferno). I made plans to pick him up on Saturday morning - as early as possible!

Brad had to work that day, so his parents drove me up there - that way they got to meet the little guy, and I would be able to keep him calmer and give him attention in the car. I got him a special, smaller carrier and a special blanket and toy, and in the car he was able to come out and sit on my lap. On the way we stopped by the bike shop where Brad was working, then I headed home to introduce him to his new home. At the time he was so tiny he couldn't even climb the stairs or get on the couch without help - I created tiny stairs he could climb to get up the couch, and he had stairs for the bed too. He would also just grab onto the side of the bed and climb up if he wanted to be up there - luckily he grew out of that fairly quickly. That first night, he was just so sweet and cute and I was so glad he was our new little baby - I love him so much. And he is the reason we have been lucky enough to make so many wonderful blogging friends, because he is why I started blogging in the first place!

Anyway, here are some pictures from his early days at our house - I hope you like them!

Our blogoversary is coming up on August 7 - we will do a special post on that day too!!
