UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Since it has been quite a long time since we have been active, we are going to be Under Construction for a while - trying new fonts, designs, and updating our sidebar stuff. Hopefully we will get it how we like it soon so it won't change too much!

Also - Can someone tell me how to get rid of the giant gap below this notice - I cannot figure out how to do it - thanks!!

What a weekend!

So, have you ever had one of those weekends where you just get on a roll with cleaning and don't stop til Sunday night - that was my weekend, which is why I didn't end up posting as planned. But I got a ton of stuff accomplished! I did a lot of cleaning in Lola's room (there were cables I wanted to move which meant moving all the bookcases, so I had to empty them, move them, get the cables out, move them back and put the books back), and I finally got that done. I got rid of a lot of books - like three big storage bins full - while I was putting everything back. And the rest of the room got changed a bit - I got rid of some stuff I had been keeping in there for the still not complete bathroom and moved it to store in the bathroom (the cabinet, mirror, toilet seat for the room)and moved a few other things out to give her even more room. And then I cleaned the bedroom, hallway and bathroom, plus did laundry. The cats were fascinated by the whole thing. I even cleaned out the fur from the turbo track (I took it apart to vacuum and put it back together in a new pattern) and I finally got started on the litter cabinet that we are making. The cabinet has been put together but we got the hole cut for it and for the cable for the lights. Of course the trim I wanted to use is just a hair too thin because we didn't take the veneer into account, so we need to figure something out for that. The cats love it already (right now it is open with no doors, so they get used to it, then I will put one door and then the other door - they are glass but I will make a privacy screen and there will be the lights, so it will be good for them). That got the litter box out of the bedroom finally (yay) and I had a place to put the hamper. The cats had a very fun time watching, and Barney kept sneaking into Lola's room - he is fascinated by it and likes her diet cat food! I still have a bunch of stuff to do in Lola's room (cleaning off the desk and cabinet tops, and going through all the books to make keep/toss/sell piles, and moving stuff that was in the top of the litter cabinet back to that cabinet - it is now in the newly empty shelves in the bookcases) and the bathroom still needs to be finished, but it is much better than before - at least upstairs!

So we had our big vet appointment this weekend - Barney went, and Gus went too. Stella's bump isn't worrying me anymore, since I talked to the vets office, but I found a lump on Gus's hip, so I decided to take him. The car ride up was AWFUL - both of them howeled the entire drive. They are the 2 worst in the car. Then Barney hid in the sink and Gus explored while we were there. Gus's lump is very likely a reaction to his last shots (he got his rabies vaccine when they were neutered) and the vet said to keep an eye on it - if it doesn't go away after about 6 weeks then I should bring him back. Barney was good - his eyes were a bit red so he is on eye goo once a day, but he did good getting his shot. He is 13 lbs, which is actually less than I would have guessed. Then we went home and they were quiet for most of the drive. There was no hissing (well no more than normal) when we got home, so that was good. I usually wait to feed them all until after the vet appointment and I find that the food distraction helps to prevent some of that. Our next one isn't until October 16, which is a long gap for us (I shouldn't say that - now something will come up knowing my luck), and that is when Virgil and Lola get their annual check up. We will see if Lola's diet is working. Other than that it was a quiet weekend - my only breaks from the cleaning were the vet appointment, running a couple errands and eating (and watching a little tv when I would fold laundry). I hope you all had a great weekend - I will have some pics to post later today. I am planning to get all caught up on visiting this week (I got part way there last week then I got in the cleaning mood and didn't go online at all). I hope everyone is ok (I haven't even checked anything yet) and don't forget to check back later - I swear I will have the pictures up then!

We're impressed that you did so much work around the house! We WISH our mom would go on a cleaning binge - everything around here is covered with old cat hair and we want to cover it with the more recent stuff.

Glad that things are OK with Barney and Gus - although we're sorry Barney has to have yucky eye goo. And we really hope you don't have to go back until October 16!

I am glad I was not the only one getting on a cleaning kick over the weekend! I love it when everything that is not useful is sent off to Goodwill or to some thrift store instead of having the items in the house for no good reason!
Thanks for being such a faithful commenter! I appreciate it!

Hi Miss Amy! Wowee! You sure did have a busy, busy weekend. Our kittehs luv to "help" my mom clean and reorganize, too. They're very much opinionated about what she should and shouldn't do.

Oh, and guess what? Mom and dad took Brudder Ripley and Sister Abby to the V.E.T. on the Friday before we left on vacation. Um, it was...well...exciting, to say the least. Brudder Cap'n Ripley said LOTS of pirate curse words. But most luckily, everybuddy checked out just fine.

That cat litter cabinet you are making sounds amazing!!! Wow - it looks like it'll be quite deluxe!

And well done for the thorough cleaning - my goodness - I'm most inmpressed (I'm the hoover and dust around objects! LOL!) how you've really moved books and shelves and cables...! You must be knackered! Well done you!

Awww lovely Stella, Barney and Gus!! I hope that the lump on Gus will get better - big purrs to lovely Gus! And glad that Barney's visit went well too (apart from the his eye but at least he's now on meds for that).

I have everything crossed that your next vets will be the one on the 16th Oct!! I look forward to the pics!

Take care
