UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Since it has been quite a long time since we have been active, we are going to be Under Construction for a while - trying new fonts, designs, and updating our sidebar stuff. Hopefully we will get it how we like it soon so it won't change too much!

Also - Can someone tell me how to get rid of the giant gap below this notice - I cannot figure out how to do it - thanks!!

More storms - Updated!!!

We are in Downers Grove - not to bad in our south part but north is getting some nasty stuff - but the cats are doing great and not freaking out at all.

Brad is at Oak Brook (the mall in the town) and it is supposed to be bad there - sounds like the mall is out of power (boo - he was there to pick up dinner for me) and there was talk of a funnel cloud spotted in the comments on the website I got the pic from - that pic has more purple now (and did earlier too) so that stinks. There is another one headed this way with some lovely upper level rotation. This is when I kind of wish I hadn't taken meteorology and didn't know things like upper level rotation and bow echo radar (though it isn't too much bow echo today - that was the Friday storm).

We have had weather on our local Fox since I got home - usually it is TMZ but they have great weather coverage.

Cats are mostly sleeping - well, older three sleeping, younger three playing. I am 100% convinced that Barney thinks he is one of the kittens.

Ok, goody, I hear the next part of the storm headed this way now (more from the south this time, so maybe we will be on the north edge). Wish us luck!!

Oh wait, the weather lady just said there were around 1000 lightening strikes in the last 5 minutes, and there are recurring waves of the storm - what a party!

UPDATE: So the storm sirens went off, I gathered all the (angry) cats and they went into carriers in the interior bathroom - while I was still gathering I heard this insane rushing noise - of course opened the door to see if I could hear sirens still - and it was crazy loud. Just heard there was a funnel cloud spotted about 3 miles down the road from here. All is ok now but there are a few very angry cats (mainly Lola and Virgil).

Wow! I do NOT miss that crazy midwest weather one bit! Please be careful and safe...tornadoes are not to be fooled with and the conditions sound perfect for a batch of touchdowns (a little weather knowledge is a dangerous thing)! :) Better the kitties be mad and secure than pampered and injured...keep candles and matches handy (for dinner with Brad AS WELL AS for the possibility of an outage.

Mr Tuxie and Mrs Grouchy keep grudges, huh? Interesting. I'm guessing from today's post we can't live that close. What storm?
Then I checked Downers Grove on google maps and we live only about two days away by car. BOL

Oh wow!!! You poor things!! It's so horrifying to read so many US blogs suffering in the path of these storms - and very violent they are too! :-(

I just hope you and Brad and the sweet kitties are safe and sound and well. I hope the storm passes away into the ocean or something! Oh dear!

Please take care! Hugs and purrs to all your kitties!

p.s. Barney is still a baby!! Awww!

Take care

Scary stuff - hope things settled down for the night. We have had a lot of bad storms around us but so far have escaped anything damaging. Phantom spends a lot of time in his cave in anticipation of t-storms.

Glad you were spared the terrible weather. It was bad. We went under a tornado warning just about the time the mom was thinking of heading to bed. We all ended up in the basement for about 20 minutes while things passed. Didn't get the tornado but high winds and lots of rain. I don't like the storms. Seems like they happen every evening, sometimes in the day too.

Oh, we're glad you're ok! We are near Milwaukee and saw the storms travel more south. We only got rain and wind.

OH my goodness. Hope you all stay safe! Be sure to update us!

We're very glad to hear that you all are OK - except for P.O.'d cats :). We don't have tornadoes here so we cats have never heard a storm siren, but the human says they are very scary (she used to live in Missouri and they went off all the time!) We hope this is not a recurring pattern where you are.

Purrs from Franklin, Tasha, and Dobby

P.S. We are VERY impressed with your knowledge of meteorology. Our human is interested in it but knows nothing!

We're so glad you are safe! This has been a crazy week! A few days ago they had a "Code Black" where mama works and she had to move the patients away from the windows!

Wow, we're not too far from you guys & didn't think the storm seemed that bad - Our Mom usually knows that the storm is going to be bad when we act all crazy... Which we didn't!

Our Mom thought the sky looked cool after the storm, too! She didn't think to take any pictures, though! (darn it!)

We're very glad everyone is ok!!

we got caught out in the storm here yesterday. I'm still a wee shaken after that drive and seeing the aftermath. we are fortunate though - most people around here do not have power and some have been told to not expect it back until next week.
