UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Since it has been quite a long time since we have been active, we are going to be Under Construction for a while - trying new fonts, designs, and updating our sidebar stuff. Hopefully we will get it how we like it soon so it won't change too much!

Also - Can someone tell me how to get rid of the giant gap below this notice - I cannot figure out how to do it - thanks!!

So, have you heard about Ike?

So last week here in Chicago there was a strange site on the side of one of our busiest expressways - a dog running down the road. Not one morning, but two. He was followed by news helicopters and people were thinking they needed to catch him - but he appears to be a pit bull mix, so a lot of people were nervous (I don't know why - it isn't the dogs that are the problem, it is bad owners, but I digress). On the second day he was tired, and a police officer was finally able to grab him. As soon as he was in the car he fell asleep. They believe he may have gotten a little bit of a bump from a car on the run, but he was basically ok, just tired. They took him to a wonderful no-kill shelter in the area, where he was checked out (he had no chip or tags) and kept for a couple days to get him back into good shape (he was dehydrated and a little banged up but like I said, basically ok.) This was great news - I was afraid they would do something bag with him like send him to a kill-shelter. Well, Ike is doing great, ready for adoption and just went to his new foster home! He is SUCH a cutie too! Anyway, if you want to read about Ike, and see some pictures of him, you can go to the local news stations article on him HERE! We know Ike has tons of people asking about him, and he will have a great new forever home very soon!

Oh my goodness!
My heart's still in my mouth! Poor doggie!

It's when he jumped into the river, I just screamed! And he ran and ran and straight into traffic and just kept running. Oh he must have been so scared, poor little thing. Good grief.

I am so glad, so glad he was finally caught - he looks a different dog on that programme with that kind man - he looks so adorable - I didn;t take too kindly to the reporter saying "he's got a rottweiller face" - I mean he's a very scared doggie, no need to make people scared of him too (not that rotties are scary but the connotations were there and kind of deliberate - silly reporter).

I think I need to lie down now. I do hope he goes to a wonderful forever home soon. Bless his doggie heart! What a story.

Take care
x

We're so glad that he was caught, and even happier that he went to a no-kill shelter. Pit bulls can be very big love sponges when they are socialized properly!

Hurrah for Ike! We used to live in the Chicago metro area, He's lucky to be alive, given the traffic.

There are too few stories like this, a happy ending. If only there were all shelters that would not kill. Thanks for sharing this.
