So I didn't get a chance to post again yesterday - the flooring guys were here a bit later than I expected but the good thing is that they finished in one day. Because of that we had to go out and get a bunch of little felt pads to put on the furniture, and by the time we got back it was late and I was exhausted. And because of the big weather change I had a massive headache most of today, but I wanted to do a quick World Cat Day post and update on Barney.
We went to the vet and he has 2 medicines for his eyes. They don't seem to bother him like the last one did so that is good. I have to call with an update on Friday. The bigger news is that he is up to 4 1/4 lbs - he gained 3/4 of a pound in 2 weeks! Probably because he eats like a horse.
The other news is that Virgil isn't feeling well today - I think he may have hurt himself. He is still jumping but he is walking with a bit of a limp. I am letting him rest and if he isn't better soon he will have to go to the vet on Monday - I have already decided that if I have to take a day off I will. But he is still going up to his favorite place in the window to sleep so I think he will be ok. He may have slid on the floor or maybe it just is making him nervous - I just can't tell.
So the cat's reactions to the floor have been mixed. Barney loves it, Virgil isn't a fan yet (again, he may have slid and that could be how he hurt himself). Floyd and Kirzon are ok with it - Floyd more than Kirzon, but Kirzon prefers upstairs so it is tough to tell if he is avoiding it or just sleeping upstairs because he likes it there better. And Lola, well I have no idea how she feels because she refuses to come down. I tried to bring her down yesterday, because she is often just to lazy to get up and go places unless I do (I even have to do it for food sometimes), but I think that she freaked out yesterday (she is the only cat to make it past both the blockades and end up downstairs) and isn't ready yet. She didn't fight me on the way down but once we hit the landing she peed on me because she wanted to get away (I had one other cat do this once to me when I was trimming her nails). She didn't pee anywhere else or on the way back up so it wasn't that she just really had to go, she just really wanted to get away. There is a litter box upstairs and some food so she is ok. She had the same reaction once at our old apartment (I was trying to give her eye medicine, she freaked out at a sound outside, bit me and ran - wouldn't come in the room for a week). She will be ok in a few days I am sure.
So, I am sure you are wondering if the floor is good - it is awesome! They did a wonderful job. I have a couple pictures of Barney sleeping on it (sort of - he is in a blanket on the floor - something he has never done before so I think he likes it). Barney loves the sound it makes when he runs around - I don't think he will ever want to go back upstairs he likes it so much!
And now, here are some various pics - they are pretty much all Barney, but there is one with Barney and Lola together - not something you will see a lot of. There are also the ones of Barney on the new floor - there is still some dust on it from the install (like cardboard bits and things like that) and we have a ton to clean but these were too cute not to post.
