UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Since it has been quite a long time since we have been active, we are going to be Under Construction for a while - trying new fonts, designs, and updating our sidebar stuff. Hopefully we will get it how we like it soon so it won't change too much!

Also - Can someone tell me how to get rid of the giant gap below this notice - I cannot figure out how to do it - thanks!!

The date is set.

So yesterday we got Barney all scheduled for his neutering. It will happen on September 23 (which is also my aunts birthday). Then I will be able to pick him up on the 25th. I am more worried about leaving him then any of the others, not because of the vets office (they love him and are wonderful with pets) but because I get the feeling that part of his insecurity about going to the vet is his worry that he won't be going home - and since he will be there for 2 nights I don't want him to be scared or sad or mad. I know it is for the best because he needs to be neutered and he will be well taken care of, but I just worry about him. I am already planning on what to send with him so he has stuff to remind him of home - his blanket, and a couple toys. Although I have to be honest that I am hoping that once he is neutered he will calm down a bit - Virgil did so I am keeping my fingers crossed. And he is becoming a man - he has started trying to, well, lets just say show dominance, over the blankets. It is not the same as when he sucks on the pillow - it is very much a mancat kind of thing - which I will admit, creeps me out just a little bit.

There is not a lot going on with the other cats - Virgil is back to his old self, and he is just happy that Virgil hasn't figured out that he could jump onto the cabinet under the TV if he tried (he can reach the kitchen counter which is about the same height). Lola is sleeping a lot - which is what she always has done. Kirzon is spending more time downstairs lately - I think he really likes the floor. Floyd is good - he had a couple of small fur mats and is now mad that I brushed them out. He is still eating well and hopefully will gain a bit more weight. I will try to get some pictures tonight, of if possible a video. I really want to get one of Virgil carying his "Da Bird" after playing. He will chase it a while, and then when he is tired he will take it and start to leave - sometimes I hold on, it flys back and he chases some more, but sometimes I just let him go - I swear watching him carry that is just one of the cutest things ever!

Oh, speaking of cute, we got the Cute Overload wall calendar this weekend - we had the page-a-day but wanted to get one of each. Virgil got to be on 2 days - October 15 and 16! We were very excited.

ETA - I have been totally bad - I keep thinking that I need to post a huge THANK YOU to Zoolatry for the new banner -they sent a couple that I will rotate through them - probably one every month.

Awww, Barney will do just fine! I was a nuerotic mess whe I had to tkae Scooter(RIP) and Skeeter to be spayed. They were there for a few hours and I called about ever half hour!!! Yes, you will be worried, but you know it's the best thing for him. He may not think so at first, but he'll get over it! That's pawesome about the calendar. Who's doing it?

Barney will do OK at the vets for 2 nights. You are planning on sending his things so he will be comfortable. We love the new banner. Ann does wonderful work.

I don't blame you for worrying about Barney at the vet. You know that he'll be okay, but it's the potential emotional trauma. Our kitties have all come out fine and forgotten about it almost immediately -- as soon as they're home, and had virtually no effect from surgery either. So no worries, really.

Congrats on Virgil's calendar pages -- that's quite a coup! And your new banner is lovefurly -- Ann does a great job, always!

Barney is growing up fast. It's a right of passage...or something like that. Good luck, Barney!

We're purring that Barney is okay at the vets. I'm sure you'll be allowed to visit him and maybe that'll help.

I picked up both Sammy and Deli the same day they were fixed and they didn't have to stay overnight. Maybe it's because of the other cats at home?

Moms worry, that's what they do. So that is completely normal. Our mom would worry too, but know that Barney will be just fine at the vets. So thoughtful of you to send him along with things to remind him of home. That will definitely help!

Don't worry Mommy Amy, he'll be okay! Toeshee went in at 7:00 am and was home at 6:00 pm the same evening though. He wobbled around for about half an hour from the drugs, then he was back to his usual naughty, hungry self. :)
I worry about all my babies when they go to the VET too.
I LOVE your new header! They are all just adorable and Zoolatry is awesome!
I hope your migraine is gone and you and the kitties have a great week.
Hugs,
Lorianna

I'm sure Barney will do just fine! Got to ask, though... 2 nites for a neuter? It's always been an outpatient for my guys (drop off am, pick up pm). Is this a duhhh moment for me (like, did I miss a post?) or is this SOP for your vet?

My mom was a total mess when I went to be spayed...she worried herself sick, but I was just fine. I pouted for a few days, but I got over it. I think it was harder on my mom (and my momma Ellie who didn't know where I went for the day).

Poor Barney ~but if he's got his blankie and toys and knows he's loved, he will be OK and be back in no time at all. Smoochies for Barney.

PS: Mom said to tell yoo THANK YOO for the compliment, she is 56 (and proud to be)! She said she never smoked, and only has the ocasional acoholic drink ~ and tries to stay trim(ish) and that helped her wear well!!! LOL!

Hi Amy...so they keep male kitties two nights? Ummmm I haven't had a male cat in 20 years but I believe he had surgery early one morning and I brought him home that night. Madi did have 2 nights at the vet. Don't worry about Barney he'll be kind of out of it so he won't remember much,
