Ok, so a bunch of bloggers have done the Mom Meme and instead of passing it to specific people they have said it you want to participate that you should. So I am going to. Here are the rules:
Either (1) post 7 facts about yourself AND photos OR (2) post 10 facts about yourself with no photos, OR (3) post a childhood picture of yourself.
I decided to go with #2 because, well, I am at work and don't have any pictures of myself here (darn).
So here are 10 facts about me (Amy - the mom)
1) I have mentioned it briefly before, but I have narcolepsy. I was tested 3 times and each test confirmed it. I don't have that "fall asleep immediately" thing (that is more for someone with narcolepsy and cataplexy) but I am pretty much always tired. It is similar to having excessive daytime sleepiness and treated the same way. I take medication for it every day, but if I am not working then I don't always take it because I can nap.
2) I am an only child, and both my parents passed away - mom 15 years ago and dad 6 years ago. I have a very small family, one aunt (and her husband), one uncle (and his wife), 4 cousins and 2 step-cousins. My uncle and his kids all live on the west coast (Washington and California) as do my step-cousins (who are not related to my uncle so it is weird they are all out there). My boyfried is also an only child so when we have kids they won't have any aunts, uncles or cousins.
3) I drive a 2003 Mini Cooper S, which I bough new in 2004. I don't drive a lot so it only has about 23,000 miles on it. Part of the reason for that is that I hate traffic so I try to only take jobs that are close to home. I love to drive when there are no cars, but traffic really gets to me.
4) I have very odd taste in music, and like pretty much every style except for country. Now if something sounds kind of country but is labeled Rock, that is ok, but vice-versa is not. I do not know why this is the case but it is.
5) I am a bit germ-phobic. I can't touch other peoples used dishes and if they leave a drink or something near me it drives me nuts (I swear I can feel it next to me). When we have people over my boyfriend has to clear the dishes, and he is in charge of dishwasher loading. I have no problem with unloading.
6) If I am at a store and see a stuffed animal on the floor I have to buy it beacause I feel bad for it (I told you yesterday I am super emotional - this is part of that).
7) I love cartoons - not just the adult cartoons like The Simpsons and Family Guy, but the ones for kids too (not the ones for super-little kids). But I don't like Sponge Bob. Cartoons are great, mindless fun shows that you don't have to think too hard about. And a lot of them have little things in them for the adults who are watching.
8) My dream job would be to be a stay at home mom/housewife. I am just not a fan of being in the workplace.
9) I love to cook but don't usually do it often because I am too tired. Especially after work. If it wasn't for work I would make dinner almost every day (which goes back to the housewife thing).
10) I like to make jewelry and am starting to learn how to weave chain maille jewelry. I make a lot of lanyards and bracelets with beads and thought chain maille would be pretty cool to learn after ending up on a site by accident.
Wow, I am so boring - it was hard to even come up with 10. A lot of you out there have done such exciting stuff that I wish I could do. But I guess there have to be boring people too. Tomorrow it is back to cat posts - they are way more interesting!
And if you haven't participated already and you are interested, I am passing this on to you!

I don't think this is boring at all! But I'm really sorry to hear about your mom and dad - I know it's very hard to lose a parent even when you are older, and losing both of them when you are young is extremely difficult (I'm sure that being an only child made it quite hard too.)
BTW, my parents were both only children also, so I don't have aunts, uncles, or cousins, and my siblings and I never thought anything of it when we were growing up - it was just the way it was. I know your kids will be fine with it too.
P.S. And I think chainmaille is a great idea - I really like that kind of jewelry but just don't have the patience (or the eyesight) for it.
Hi Amy! I don't think you are boring at all! I would love to make jewelry, but my fingers just do not want to work that way anymore. I love rubber stamping and card making. I could spend hours at a craft store.
Lots of kitty bloggers make jewelry to auction off to help furbabies in need, so your talents would be welcomed I'm sure. I'd love to see your creations. :)
I'm an orphan too and my husband's family is well... difficult. My daughter's friends hang out here, so it's nice to feed them and listen to their silliness. I bet someday you'll be the "cool" mom too. :) I just try to listen and not judge.
I'm sorry about your sleep disorder. Being tired all the time is just so emotionally taxing as well as physically.
I enjoyed all of your kitty facts and grooming tips too. You have quite the house full of interesting personalities.
I hope you all are having a good week and the kits are all feeling well.
See you soon!
Hugs,
Lorianna
p.s. Toeshee says, I'm not fat, I'm floofy!
Firstly I dont think you are boring at all. Thanks for telling us about you.. I love finding out about the mums. I think the jewelry making sounds like fun. I wish I could do that because I just love jewelry..
Thanks for sharing..
Carol and GJ xx
Amy, you are any thing but boring! You are very interesting. You have had a lot to deal with in your life but you still have a great sense of humor and self worth. As we get older, Aunts and uncles and cousins seem to drift away and we loose touch. Having children and Grand children creates your own family. My husband was an only child and I know the stress you went through losing your parents.
I cant wait to see your chain maille jewelry. I don't wear any jewelry but mu daughter and daughter in law (Shadow's Mom) do.
Hi Amy! Not any more boring than me for sure! I didn't know there was more than one form of Narcolepsy, it must be hard to live with that.
I think chain mail is really cool so I hope you enjoy making it.
Meg
Definitely not boring! Those are all very interesting things about the Mom behind the cats!
Sorry to hear about your parents. I still have both of mine so I can't imagine how that would be.
I love this meme, it's such a great way to get to know everyone!
I didn't think you were boring at all! I found you quite charming.
We don't think you are boring at all, Amy!! It was great to learn these new, interesting things about you!
Our mom has always wanted a mini and her dream job is to be a stay-at-home-cat-mom :)
Hopefully we're all convincing you that you aren't boring!!! Not at all! My mom has thought about making jewelry, but she's afraid I'd carry off all of her supplies and stash them under the couch!
We don not think you are boring at all! I would love to see some of the jewelry you make, as I'm a junkie for it! Hey, you may have a new customer (that is if you sell your stuff!) :o) We all hope you and yours have a wonderful weekend!!!
You are far from boring, my dear! It sounds like you've had a hard time of it. My son is an only child, as well, and there is not a lot of extended family, so he feels quite isolated as well. I can really empathsize with that.
I don't blame you for not liking the workplace -- I'm retired now, but it was very difficult to work all of those years. Unless you find something you truly love doing every day, it's a physical and mental test every day. You must have extra trouble because of your narcolepsy.
At least we have our kitties -- they, alone, make life worthwhile!
You are not boring - I thought it was interesting. The Mini Cooper is a really cool car! I'll bet it's fun to drive.
I love knowing a little about your mother, she seems to be very fun =)
Took a poll around here and the votes are in:
Aggie: Not boring!
Peggy Sue: Not boring!
Winnie: Not boring!
Annie: Not boring!
Bitty: Not boring!
Ginny, Fred, George & Percy: Not boring x 4
So I guess I'll just have to go along with the majority! ;-)
