UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Since it has been quite a long time since we have been active, we are going to be Under Construction for a while - trying new fonts, designs, and updating our sidebar stuff. Hopefully we will get it how we like it soon so it won't change too much!

Also - Can someone tell me how to get rid of the giant gap below this notice - I cannot figure out how to do it - thanks!!

The Dash for Ash!

So, this past weekend was the Dash for Ash, where we got to help with moving Ash to his new home with Cat! I will have video later, but wanted to post about the experience!

So, we had to meet Chrystal in Rantoul, which is a small town down south in Illinois. We got everything loaded into the truck (water, towels, stuff to bring to Chrystal and Cat, and of course ourselves) and headed out. The trip was nice - there wasn't a ton of traffic, and the drive itself went nice and smoothly. We hadn't really been down that way before, so it was fun to see all the new stuff!

We got to Rantoul and met Chrystal at 2, and it was so fun! We met at the McDonald's down there, because my thought was that 1) it wasn't too far off the highway and 2) it would be easy to recognize for sure. Chrystal and her two daughters were there, and they were so nice. I know it had to be hard for them to see Ash go, but it was also probably a relief to know that he was going to a good home! We didn't spend too long there, because well, we had to get to Cat, and also it had to be tough for them to say goodbye!

I sat in back with Ash, and once we were back on the road, I let him out of the carrier. He was so small and just adorable. I was instantly in love with him. He checked out the truck, then decided that while the carrier was great and fun (I had a couple toys in it), the best spot for the trip was my lap, so he snuggled up and took a snooze. He would wake a bit when we would hit a bump but he was the best behaved kitten I have ever seen, and he was so sweet!

So, we drove and drove, with him being a total snugglebug the whole time. And we got to Matteson, where we were meeting Cat, a bit early - of course she and her husband were already there (I understand, because I would have been too!) So back into the carrier he went, still being a perfect little boy! And then we got to meet Cat and her husband - they were so great! And you know they are going to be great cat parents - anyone who would drive all that way - in a little Mini Cooper no less - really wants to have that baby for sure! So we said our goodbyes to Ash, and well, that was it for our portion!

It is funny - I didn't realize that it would be so hard to say goodbye to Ash. I know he will have a wonderful home with Cat in Canada, but I just totally fell in love with that little guy! I guess that is how it is - maybe it would have been easier if he was a fussy rider, but I don't think so. But he seriously was one of the sweetest cats I have ever met - Cat, you are a very lucky lady!!

I will have the videos up later on - I still have to go through them and find the good ones!

Wow, Ash was a little sweetie! I don't care for care rides too much, but he was a little champ!

PS I had a wonderful time with you at Gracie's, Virgil! You were very sweet to come with me.

Ash seems like he is a very sweet boy! We think that the cats who were being remembered during this trip (Floyd, Winnie, and Molly) whispered to him and told him how special and lucky he was.
