UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Since it has been quite a long time since we have been active, we are going to be Under Construction for a while - trying new fonts, designs, and updating our sidebar stuff. Hopefully we will get it how we like it soon so it won't change too much!

Also - Can someone tell me how to get rid of the giant gap below this notice - I cannot figure out how to do it - thanks!!

Stuff!

Hi Everyone! So this is going to be a crazy week! The kittens go in Friday, so I am taking Thursday and Friday off (for those of you who don't know, when I drove Barney up for his neutering last year my car broke down on the way to the vet. I was lucky and got him up there, but then I had to deal with my car and then get to work! I don't want that kind of pressure again!) And this is the last week of the month at work, so things are crazy there - if I don't get a lot of visiting in this week, that is why.

So, first, the big announcement! You have spoken - and our traveling hippo has been named:

So based on the votes, it looks like he is a boy - though I may go with Hugo Harmony because I think that has a nice ring to it. So Hugo will be traveling to Chez Cat's place in the next few days - I am going to hopefully send it out this weekend, but it may be a bit longer. (And that is also when I will be sending the Paw it Forward stuff). I am getting everything together and will post some pics when I do, before it heads out. Then you will get to follow Hugo on his travels!!

So, the cats are good - Lola is upstairs doing some window wiffin - I have the window open in that room because it is cool enough out and it will air the place out (it needs it - that is the big problem having her in one room - it gets a little, um, catty in there).

Virgil is getting more used to the kittens - Gus enjoys going over and rubbing up against him to show he likes him, and Virgil lets him! That is a lot of progress! Gus is almost as big as Virgil already - it is pretty funny!

And I know a lot of you are wondering why the kittens are getting their ecotmies so soon, but really it won't be, because they are about 5 months next weekend, and they are both big. I know a lot wait til 6 months, but I don't want to risk anything, and with Virgil and Barney they were done around the same time. And seriously with Gus some times I look over and he is walking away and I am like "dude, I don't want to see that, turn around or something".

Anyway, tomorrow I will have pics, and I have to put up my pics for Fin's "Scafflaw Week" - they will be some oldies but goodies - unless I can get a pic of Gus on the TV. But right now I have to go, because Gus and Stella are trying to break into the toy box (a bunch of stuff got put away during the cleaning and well, til I am done it is staying put away).

LOL! I well remember my little boy kittens and their...erm...ping pongs. I had a heckuva time sexing CC when he was a tot; he had an undescended testicle so he looked a little different from what I was expecting to see!

Good luck with the 'ectomies, and kissies to your crowd!

Yay for Hugo! It's gonna be fun to follow his adventures. Since we're all girls, mom had our 'ectomies done as soon as she could! Her fear was we'd get out and get lost and become teenage kitty moms! All the best for your crew!

Busy week but sounds like everyone is doing well and Hugo has a name too! We will be purring for the kittens on Friday. Angel had her surgery when she was about 3 months old and weighed just 2 lbs. She came from the shelter and they do them early (way early it seems) before they can be adopted.

Virgil, it is so cute that you are getting along with the kittens :) Good luck to the bubbas with their surgeries.

BTW, we don't think it's early at all. We have our foster kittens done when they are 1.2 kilos (roughly 2.5 pounds).

Wow, lots going on at your place. We don't blame you for doing the spay/neuters now. Five months is not too early, and they are certainly both a good weight for it too.

Hugo is a great name for a hippo - it needs to be a strong sort of name. We will think of the babies and hope everything goes well.

Hugo is a great name for the hippo. :-)

Both Nicki and Derry were neutered around 5 months of age. Typically that shelter will do it as soon as the cats reach 3 pounds minimum. I've heard of some shelters doing it younger, at 2 pounds, but that's too small, IMO.

Lots of purrs for them both on Friday!

You are busy, busy, busy! Hope all goes well for you and the babies this week. Hard to believe they're 5 months old already! Hope work is going well for you and take care, Amy!

After months of research (that you are so familiar with) I have to say, I soo agree on getting the "ectomies" are best done as early as it is safe. Knowing you and your vet's attitude, these guys will not even know what happened. They'll be back home safe and sound before long.:)

We hope that the Vet trip goes with no car complications and that the 'ectomies' are swift and easy on the kittens...

Wow so much to do and so little time. YOU do have a full schedule.
Hugo is a very cute name. We look forward to following him.
