UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Since it has been quite a long time since we have been active, we are going to be Under Construction for a while - trying new fonts, designs, and updating our sidebar stuff. Hopefully we will get it how we like it soon so it won't change too much!

Also - Can someone tell me how to get rid of the giant gap below this notice - I cannot figure out how to do it - thanks!!

Just a quick update

Hi Everyone! We are back after a crazy week! I haven't gotten any visiting in since last Tuesday (well, very limited) so it will be a lot of catching up for me! I ended up being sick on Wednesday night and still feel crummy today - fun! So I got almost none of the stuff I needed to do done.

The kittens had their surgeries and did great - they both need to take it easy, but it is tough to convince them of that! There was some tension in the house when they came home on Saturday but that seemed to clear up by Sunday night, which is good. I was worried because they wanted to snuggle with Barney, but he would have none of that - he would hiss and bop them, because they smelled like, well, Vet. But by Sunday evening they were doing good 90% of the time.

The other news is Kirzon is back on his ear antibiotics. I went to get him on Wednesday to eat dinner, and noticed he had rubbed off the fur on his chin (worse than Barney ever did) and it was pretty recent because he wasn't that way in the morning (he had been sleeping upstairs all day), so I called the vet Thursday, and instead of having to bring him in they just put him back on the meds. Since he is awful about taking them I asked for the ear stuff, and we will be doing a 3 week round of that for now. So keep your fingers crossed - so far he is taking that well, which is good. He is rubbing his mouth a lot though, and if he doesn't stop I may end up picking up a cone - he just can't stop (OCD kitty I guess).

Well, I didn't get anything sent out that I planned (I felt too crappy) but hope to get stuff organized this week - I did manage to finish up the collar and get a nametag for Hugo - it is super cute and I will have pictures. I had to get cat food anyway, so I was able to get the tag at the same time (I felt crappy but knew I had to at least get a couple things accomplished). Brad was great and helped out with a lot of stuff - including driving us up to the vets. Oh, can I tell you how extremely unhappy they were - Stella cried a bit but Gus was crazy - crying, trying to dig his way out of the carrier, just didn't want to be in there. Because of the surgery I wanted to be sure he didn't hurt Stella accidently so they had separate carriers on the way home, and he was just as crazy then. But once they were home they still kept going in the carriers to investigate, so they don't hate the carriers at least. So our next trip will be for Barney's annual on Sept. 11 - that should hopefully go smoothly.

Anyway, I have a ton of catching up to do both with visiting blogs and at work, so I hope to see you all soon - and I will get some pics up as soon as I can!

Glad you are back and that you are feeling well enough to work and get things done. Also glad that the babies are doing well post-op....that is not the nicest of ops, but hey, it makes life easier in a lot of ways...right? Well, that is what I was told and like a good boy, I believe all that Mom tells me. Purrs to you all, Lautrec (and Tiny)

We just got caught up reading your blog - we were waaaay behind. We love your blog so much that we actually went back and read your archives from before we met to get the back story on everyone.

We especially like how you will tell us about other blogs and pertinent news! You have turned us on to several other blogs that we now follow!

Best wishes for the "ectomies" recovery. Two of our fosters also had their ectomies on Friday, and they are acting as if nothing happened. Amazing how quickly kittens recover!

Never a dull moment, huh? Glad the surgeries went well, that's important. Poor Kirzon, hope he (and you) feel better soon.

As for Gus, have you tried spraying a little Feliway in the carrier about 1/2 hour before you leave? We do this with Benny and it helps a little.

Poor little tykes! I'm glad the surgeries went smoothly.

Deb from "Just Cats" got a homeopathic ear medicine for her dog who has chronic ear problems. It is called "Gentian Ear Treatment"...you might want to check it out for Kirzon. She said it helped within a DAY.

Hope you are feeling better!

We hope the ear antibiotics work well for Kirzon. Recurring infections are such a nuisance!

Really glad to hear that Gus and Stella's surgeries went well! We know what you mean about trying to talk kittens into taking it easy - it's NOT easy :). And we always have tension here after the vet - Tasha gets all bent out of shape by the vet smell. It doesn't last very long but it is not fun.

We're sending Kirzon many purrs and we hope the ear antibiotics work! And we hope you feel much better soon too.

Wow, what a busy week you've had!! We're very happy to hear that Stella & Gus went through their operations with (mostly) little problems.

Whenever one of us goes to the vet, there's ALWAYS drama because the unlucky cat stinks like the v-e-t! But, after the stink wears off we're fine...

Hope you are feeling better soon!!

It is awful to be sick and then to lay there feeling crummy and thinking about all of the stuff you SHOULD be doing.Hope you are feeling better. Glad the babies survived the vet trip without any lasting trauma...and that their surgeries went well. We hope the ear medicine works for Kirzon and that he continues to cooperate.
