So today was Lola's vet visit. I wanted to bring a sample of cat pee with so he could test it easily but had to figure out how to get one. So I decided to invent a cat pee catcher - it worked great and they were able to test it. It showed nothing so she is peeing from stress. We decided to try to keep her separate so she could relax and hopefully start to use the litter again. I set up a nice place for her in my office - she loves to hang out there because I made some cat beds for in the window, and I got her a new litter box all her own (with litter attract) and her own eating area. She has her window spot she likes, plus a comfy couch (a section of the old couch from downstairs, which she loved to sit on) and I am pretty sure she is super happy in there. I spent a big part of the day with her and she was purring and calm the whole time. Don't know if she has used the litter yet though. So we will try this and hopefully it will work - we will let her out sometimes so she can hang out but I want to make it so she can go in there and get away from the others at that time too - not sure how yet. I know that they make cat doors that have a magnetic lock that only lets the cat wearing the magnetic key in but she hasn't ever worn a collar so I don't know if that would work.
The other thing we learned, which didn't come as any sort of surprise, is that she could stand to loose some weight. She has gained 1.25 lbs since October - probably because she loves to steal the kitten food. So I got her a lower calorie dried food - she will still get the same canned but cuting out the kitten food and using the lower calorie crunchies should work out good.
Next week is the kitten visit for their next shots and Kirzon's follow up. I will have that info then. In the mean time, Virgil's gotcha day is on Monday - I can't believe he has been here 2 years - it seems like he was a baby not that long ago, but it also seems like he has always been here! I have a great post for that day so be sure to stop by!!

We're glad to hear that all is (at least mostly) well. We think Miss Lola is PERFECT!
Oh sweet and adorable Lola!! Awwww big purrs and hugs to her! It's such a relief to know that she is ok physically - that's really fab! I think your special place for her in your office is wonderful - and she's already responding to this positively - bless her little furry heart - she just sounds so adorable!
Good luck with her new diet!
Oh and well done you for inventing a cat pee catcher! What was it??? When I had to get a pee sample for my Ol'Girl the vet gave me a syringe, special type of litter and a tube with a tube stopper! It was very messy and very stressful for me and worse for my kitty! So well done you!
Have a lovely Sunday! Can't wait for Virgil's special Gotcha day tomorrow!
Take care

Well, at least that answers a very important Lola question. Now she just needs to learn to chill at bit.
Well, it's good to rule out any physical issue with Lola. I hope her own room and litter box does the trick. Fingers (and paws!) crossed!
I hope the special room works for Lola.
WOw Lola gets her own room and bathroom! Hmm I gotta try her tactics.. she's quite clever. Really, I hope she's doing well and happy gotcha day to Virgil.

Good news that there's not a medical reason for Lola's inappropriate peeing.
Is Lola Microchipped? I know they can be expensive, but you can now get cat doors/flaps that work with your cat's Microchip and can be programmed to only let one cat in and out.
What a full post! I'm glad Lola seems calmer with some alone time. I'm anxious to hear if she decides to use the litter!
I love Gotcha Day posts! I can't wait.

Good news that Lola hasn't got a pee infection. Probably being on her own to pee will help her as she won't get interupted by another cat wanting to at the same time.
We hope she continues to feel better.
Good to know that there is no infection. It sure sounds like you set her up with a royal room. Hope things get straightened out for you and her soon.

Glad to hear Lola does not have any medical problems; hope her new set up will allow her to calm down and feel happier...You take wonderful care of your babies, Amy!...Enjoy your day sweet friends...xo...Calle, Halle, Sukki
Good to hear Lola is doing well and has her own hideaway from the craziness of all the other cats. I think getting her weight down a little won't be a problem
We're glad there isn't anything medically wrong with Lola and hope her new room helps with her stress - which it sounds like a purrfect place to do just that! We're sending her comforting purrs to make her feel more relaxed!
Poor Lola. Being stressed is No Good. But we're glad she now has a stress free zone to chill in.
We hope this works for Lola. I would not try the collar, yet. We had to put calming collars on all three because of fighting. It has stressed poor little Angel more than I thought it would. Mom thinks a collar on Lola might do the same thing!
Hi! Sounds like all went well at the vets.

Wait. You invented a WHAT? Did you have to strap the cat pee catcher to her hiney? You should sell it! I bets there's lots of peoples who need to catch their kitteh's pee. For some reason.
Anyways, I think it's most wonderful everything you're doing to make Lola feel less stressie. Mom wants to know if you've tried Feliway or Rescue Remedy. It seems to help Capn Ripley when he gets stressed out from all his pirate duties.

Well we are thrilled that Lola is all right. It might just be the kittens coming. Her new private room sounds terrific and she should be very happy in there. Glad it wasn't anything worse.
Have a great Sunday.
Hi friends,
Sorry we haven't been around much but Mommy has been so busy keeping up with Shelby. She is is looking so much better now but she still has a long way to go.
I'm doing much better and haven't had to take anymore medicaine but I'm still not jumping the way I would like to.

miss amy,
i'm glad miss lola doesn't have any sickies, so hopefully the fact that she has her own private suite will help her not stress out and pee everywhere!
