UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Since it has been quite a long time since we have been active, we are going to be Under Construction for a while - trying new fonts, designs, and updating our sidebar stuff. Hopefully we will get it how we like it soon so it won't change too much!

Also - Can someone tell me how to get rid of the giant gap below this notice - I cannot figure out how to do it - thanks!!

Why we keep Gus and Stella confined when I am at work

So there are a couple reasons we keep the kittens confined while we are gone for long periods of time. One is that Barney thinks he is one of them and forgets that he is like 4 times bigger. Another is that they think they are daredevils. That thing Stella is looking at in the first picture is the corner of the stair railing - the top of which is about 85" off the ground. Now, she can reach it from the stairs without problem in that position. The problem is that Gus likes to climb on top of it - and now Stella is trying to copy her brother (she is a total tomboy). Now normally I wouldn't be overly worried - yes it is high but I know cats who jump up higher (Milo, you know I am looking at you) and I am sure they could land fine normally - but the exercise bike is right below where they climb! None of the other cats are big on the high climbing so this is a new one here. Anyway, here are a few pictures!

Edited to add: Holly cow this is our 600th post!

Wow! Those two ARE little daredevils! I like to be UP, too, but for me that means the back of the couch! :)

Kittens can certainly get into trouble if left out unsupervised so it's good you keep them safe! Those pictures are so cute!

Woowoo! Happy 600th post!

Kittehs are crazy that way. Maybe you could just put a trampoline down beneath where they climb. I bets they would like that!

Babies .. I kept Riley separate from my big purr gang for quite a while. I have a den with a window door so he had his own area. So, I know what you mean. They can get into thing so fast ...

You are very smart to keep those cute babies confined for safety - our Mom did that with each of us when we were little, too. ('cept Simon 'cause he was big when he was adopted) When we are kittens, we think we can do ANYTHING!!!

Have a happy day!!

My turn to give you insight on this one. I was under the impression cats are ... indestructible and able to fall from extreme heights. Wrong! I was staring right at my cat, Bob, as he was playing on top of my 12 foot tall bookcases. As I'm enjoying watching him, he slips, falls, lands ON HIS FACE and we now call him "one fang". He fell on his face. I'm glad Stella and Gus are in confinement especially because they could fall on the bike.
I did miss this post yesterday. Glad you got the technical issues under control. :)

Oh my. When Madi was a kitten the things we had to do we never had to do with our first cat.
We had our grandfather clock wrapped in a thick quilt that was secured with duct tape. Yes another use for duct tape. She would jump from the stairs similar to your pictures to the top of the clock then proceed to chew on the wood and proudly announce what she was doing. We had a chair by the fireplace that sat in the middle of the room for 6 months because she was using it to get to the mantel....we are loling with you.

Goodness, I can see why you want to keep these little ones confined when you're not around. And with the two of them, it'd be like one leading the other one into antics.
