UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Since it has been quite a long time since we have been active, we are going to be Under Construction for a while - trying new fonts, designs, and updating our sidebar stuff. Hopefully we will get it how we like it soon so it won't change too much!

Also - Can someone tell me how to get rid of the giant gap below this notice - I cannot figure out how to do it - thanks!!

Kitten update - post vet edition

Hi Everyone! So as usual I was off the computer all weekend - this time napping to get caught up on sleep for some of it (plus once kittens fall asleep on you there is no moving, especially if another cat joins you).

The vet visit went well - except the kittens have worms. Which is not a huge deal - and since they are from a feral mom not totally unexpeted. All the kittens (ours plus their sibs) are on meds for three days, then off then in 2 weeks back on. I am just glad it isn't a tapeworm like Virgil had because you can't actually see any worms - where with the tapeworm little segments would come off and show up.

They were 3 and 3 1/2 pounds (Gus bigger), and it is funny because Louise and Cosmo were there and they didn't remember them at all. Louise and Cosmo are smaller - they are super cute though! Louise is torbie colored (stripy calico/tortie color) and Cosmo is a pale orange/peachy color everywhere. And he seems like he is very floofy so he could end up a floofy boy - it is hard to tell at this age though. But they were all uncomfortable together, which is both sad but good - that means they hopefully don't miss each other now.

Most of the weekend was spent with the kittens sleeping on me - they are very snuggly and love to curl up as close to your face as possible when they can get there (which makes it tough to sit up which makes you very sleepy). They did spend some time with the other cats too - they would probably be fine to be out at night, but I decided it was better to keep them separate so the big cats don't go into their litter for right now. Hopefully that will keep them from getting the worms too (I will be getting it checked when we go back for the next set of shots). The big cats keep stealing the kitten food - but the kittens like the stuff for the big cats. I got a food for them that is labeled to be ok for cats and kittens (Wellness Core grain free) and so I am not overly worried. They are starting to get more brave about going places in the house - they ventured into the laundry room where the litter is - the first time for that was last night. And they have learned to climb the chairs and get on the kitchen table.

There was a bit of THoE with Gus and Barney - and a bit of boping between him and both kittens - but nothing hard and all very playful. I think he knows they will be great playmates for him. There were a couple bops from other cats when the kittens startled them - like if they were on the couch and a kitten jumped up really close, not realizing the big cat was there - but again not hard bops. There have been a couple times the kittens got squirted with the water bottle - all involving cord chewing that they wouldn't stop. They don't even have to get wet - just the spray sound stops them at the moment.

I will have more pics up later, and hope to get a video of them playing with the turbo track - I am going to try when I get home and the room is bright, otherwise I will get it tonight at bedtime. That is when they love to play!

Oh, and just a quick update on the meezers who needed help - they are all safe, and either going to homes or foster homes - in fact one of our blog friends, Nico the Polymezer and JayJay are going to be taking one of the boys - they will be brothers! How awesome is that!!

There is a post about a bunch of various kitties who need help over at Love and Hisses so if you think you know anyone who can help out, please check it out!

Have a great week everyone!

We're very glad the kittens checked out OK (except for the worms - but that is pretty normal!) And we know about the kitten food thing - when Tasha was a baby she always tried to eat the older cat's Kidney Diet (we're not sure why because most cats don't like it that much!) and the big cats wanted the kitten food.

We have a little blurb about 3 of the Love and Hisses cats today at the end of our blog post - thanks for helping spread the word!

We're glad to hear the kittens are OK, except for the worms, that is. There's nothing like having kittens fall asleep on you!

We love the updates on the kittens. Sounds like they are just about all moved in and making themselves right at home. The older cats just want that kitten food because it is a little different or maybe it tastes better. I tried to get one of my older cats that is thin some kitten food and she wouldn't eat it.
Have a fun week with those little devils.

Glad to hear all went well at the vets and the kittens are well (worms are as you say pretty well expected).
Good excuse for a lazy weekend if a cat or cats falls asleep on you - I mean you can't just wake them up can you.

Thanks for the kitten update!! Sor4ry to hear about the worms. Pretty much all of us had them because we were from feral moms too. Luckily, they are pretty easy to treat! Can't wait to see some more baby pics!

So happy to hear about the meezers! Wonderful news!

Amy I just watched the kitten videos they are precious...nothing much cuter than a kitten discovering the world around him/her. Good luck with the meds.

Sounds like all is well...except for those pesky worms.

Mommy says she thinks kittens are easier to integrate than adult cats: they're such little spazes they don't mind the adult cats getting miffed.

We're glad all went well, minus the expected worms, of course!

Interesting that Louise and Como didn't recognize them...I'd have thought there would be a familiar scent...guess not!

Wellness is great if they'll eat it. Mine will eat one flavour only, fussy crew. LOL. But if you get them on a good diet early, that's fantastic!

Oh so glad that Gus and Stella are now being treated for worms! And great to hear that they are also getting more confident with their surroundings and with the other older kitties! I think it's funny how they all steal each other's food! LOL!!

Isn't it strange that Gus and Stella no longer seem to recognise Louise and Cosmo?? But like you say at least it shows that they have all settled into their new homes and families now.

Well have a wonderful week too Amy and the House of Cats!!

Looking forward to kitty pics and vid clips of all your wonderful kitties.
Take care

It sounds like the baby kittehs are doing real good! My mom said she used a water bottle on my Brudder Ripley and his littermate, Molly (who went to the Rainbow Bridge). She said it always worked real good with Brudder Ripley but if Molly really wanted to do something, she would just squint her eyes against the water and keep doing whatever it was she was doing! Mom says she was a pistol.

Glad the vet visit went well. I hate dealing with worms. One of our foster dogs had them and we found one on our leather couch, it was SO gross. Eww!
