UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Since it has been quite a long time since we have been active, we are going to be Under Construction for a while - trying new fonts, designs, and updating our sidebar stuff. Hopefully we will get it how we like it soon so it won't change too much!

Also - Can someone tell me how to get rid of the giant gap below this notice - I cannot figure out how to do it - thanks!!

Am I crazy?

So this weekend I went to PetSmart to pick up a new carrier for the cats, which we had seen there before. It is the Petmate Curvations carrier. It is very cute, sturdy, easy to store, and makes a great place to sleep while they are at home. But there are only two styles, a brown zebra-type and a beigey flower (I think) so I decided to look online to see if there were any other styles available. And from what I can find online, this carrier doesn't actually exist anywhere. Barney was in it before I even had it put together - he adores it and now sleeps in it all the time. My question is - has anyone seen these anywhere or is this one PetSmart like a reverse Bermuda triangle, where things mysteriously appear? I want to check out other PetSmarts in the area - I just haven't had time yet (I have to go to get a new pot for my tree - which is coming back to life nicely, so I may head to the one up by the garden store - it is not too much further up). If anyone has seen them, please confirm that I am not nuts. I will post some pics of Barney in it (the camera had to charge and we had internet issues this weekend - yay comcast!)

Also, don't forget to vote for Virgil in the fight club - you may have noticed the giant reminder at the top of the post.

Our commentathon is on Thursday - I had a few questions that I recall so hopefully I can answer them now. If you post more then one time that is fine, but don't go all crazy, and don't "spam" the comments with a bunch of little blurbs in a row. It is running during central daylight time - to find your time that day you can go Here, pick Fixed Time world clock, and enter the info (you have to use like 12:05 am on April 15 in Central Daylight time - just scroll to USA, Illinois, Chicago. for location) and find the city with your timezone to check when it starts/ends for you. It is actually a pretty cool site - I was hoping to post a link to the times for everyone - you can try and click HERE but I don't know how long it stores the info. It may take you to one. Also, it is 25 cents per post from me, and Brad is going to match it so it will really be 50 cents. I wish it could be more. I am going to schedule the post to go up at 12:00 on 4/15 - that is the post you want to comment on! I would give you the URL now but it isn't even written yet (I want to scan in the pic of Virgil from the calendar but haven't had a chance yet). It will be at the top all day. You can also just go to our main page and it will be the first post. The proceeds will go to Cat Gurardians to help the kitties in need there. Like I said before, that is the shelter where Floyd was when I adopted him back in 1996.

And finally, be sure to check out the pics of the newbies if you haven't yet - there are now week 2 pics up. They have their eyes open! We are so glad that Megan rescued Mac and her babies. We know if they had gone to a shelter it would not have been a good outcome for them - it is too horrible to even think about. She is great for saving them all (and her sister Sara too!)And we are so honored that we will get to take in two of the cuties. We think that they (Megan, Sara and their mom) should of course get first picks of who they want which is why I am not trying to claim any - I know Kelly likes Han (the smaller orange one) who may or may not be a boy. I know that 75% of orange kitties are boys - but I grew up with an orange girl (no question there - she had kittens) and so did the woman I work with - hers had a litter of mostly female orange kitties. So you never know - both orange could be girls. I have to say I think they are all adorable. I had hoped for an orange girl, but even some orange would be ok. My biggest issue is naming - I would like to have a girl named Trixie - but if I got Stella and one of the boys, I think I would have to keep Stella because that is a great name. Now with 2 girls - we had planned on Trixie and Mabel - but if one were Stella she would stay Stella. The only name situaiton that would be tough would be a 1 boy 1 girl it were Stella and a boy. I mean we have a boy name - it's just do you change the plan and keep the one you now like too? We think the girls all need to have roller derby girl names, because Lola and Trixie both seemed roller derby-esque, so if it is 2 girls either Mabel or Stella works with that plan.

Ok, I am rambling now - that was not my goal at all! I get hypertalkative (and hypertypeative too) when I am tired. And I am very tired today.

So anyway, if you have seen that carrier let me know, and if you have any commentathon questions you can let me know in the comments or email me. And if you comment let me know if you want a response in blog form or if you would like an email.

Vote for Virgil!!

I don't recall a carrier like the one you described, but the zebra one sounds cool.

Our mom doesn't know about the carriers either, but her step~mom works at a PetSmart in Wake Forest, NC. She can ask her. Good luck on the kittie pickins too.

Wow, that is really weird. Maybe it is one that is being replaced by a new style or something?

I don't know about the carriers - we use the cheap, plain boring ones here. :-) But I did see that Virgil is almost caught up in the voting now! (48% to 52%). Go Virgil!

Awww yes - go Virgil - he's catching up now!

Thanks for the world clock link - will ensure I comment on the day in time!

:-)

Sorry, I can't help you with the carriers - they sound like fun though so I hope you do find the style you want - good luck!

Aww you've chosen great potential names for your new kitties. Stella and Mabel or maybe Trixie!

I've had a look at the kitties and they are so, so, so tiny and such little babies still! I'm so thrilled for you that soon two of them will be part of your fab family!

Take care
x

Have a friend that works at PetSmart will ask her about the carrier. Choosing names is the most important thing you will ever do for your pet...naming it makes it so. When mom and dad got me, dad put together 11 pages (2 columns) of names for mom to choose from. She chose "Siku" because it is an Eskim language word meaning "ice" and she said I melted the ice in her heart that grew there to protect her after her beloved sheltie, Sheena, died suddenly of cancer. So anyway, good luck in adopting and naming the newbies...they are all adorable!
