UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Since it has been quite a long time since we have been active, we are going to be Under Construction for a while - trying new fonts, designs, and updating our sidebar stuff. Hopefully we will get it how we like it soon so it won't change too much!

Also - Can someone tell me how to get rid of the giant gap below this notice - I cannot figure out how to do it - thanks!!

Lola

So I think Lola misses Floyd a lot. Sometimes she will start to meow the saddest meow - often in the middle of the night. I check on her to see if she is sick or something (maybe peeing and it hurts like an infection or crystals) or if she is being bugged by the little brothers. If I call her name she brightens up and comes to me. She isn't sick, she wasn't in the middle of peeing, she was just looking for someone. She and Floyd were the closest of all the cats. I honestly can't come up with any other explination for the meowing. The times I have seen her doing it she is just standing and calling out. She is eating normal and acts normal most of the time - but she does this fairly often (there is also a chance she is doing it when I am asleep and I don't hear it, or when I am not at home). I hope I am just projecting my idea on her and that she really doesn't miss him too much because I hate that it makes her sound so sad, if that is what is going on. She never did this when he was still with us, so I really don't know. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? Floyd has been gone for 5 months (I can't believe it is 5 months already) and I didn't notice it until the past couple weeks - but I haven't slept as well at night and have been waking up which is when I usually notice is - though she did it this morning after their breakfast. I called her, she came downstairs and was fine. Any ideas on what it could be other than just missing her brother would be appreciated - like I said, she is normal most of the time, doing all her normal stuff and seems quite healthy. Her eye allergies aren't even causing problems with lots of eye gunk like they often do at this time of year.

Aww, it's hard when they sound so sad! I know a couple of my cats have started meowing more recently and acting restless, and I think that is due to the weather changing. So maybe its something similar. Whatever it is, I hope she feels happier soon!

Hope sweet Lola feels better soon; maybe it is the weather, maybe Floyd=sad meows are upsetting!

Hi Amy

My tough ol girl meowed at night the older she got -sad meowing like she's lost but then when I call to her and go to her and pick her up and hug she, she calms down. For me it was more reassurance. I think anyway.

I only say this because Lola calms down when you call to her - like she's got a familiar voice/sound to tell her everything is alright.

I think also she definitely misses Floyd too so it's doubly so that she calms down when you reassure her that you are still there with her.

big purrs to Lola!

Take care
x

My Peno does that, and I think it's she just wants company - you call her and she comes running. It's probably the same for Lola

Lola probably is missing Floyd very much... kitties do that.

When the next door neighbors moved, my grandmother's cat missed her best friend, a dog named Petey - neighbor's dog.

My parents moved into the house next door and Kitty had to go through the whole house looking for Petey.

Purrz,
Katie Kat

Poor sweet Lola. We bet she misses Floyd. I can't believe it's been 5 months already. :o( This Thrsday is going on 1 year since Scooter(RIP) left us for The Bridge. Mom told the girls at her work to pretty much just leave her alone and already forwarned Dad that she will be getting some wine for that night. Thursday is going to suck B~I~G time!

It is very possible that she misses her brother ! My cats don't grief about Lisa because she was much older and she had lived with Max who died 4 years ago. From that day on Lisa had also changed a lot. She became a lonely cat and hissed at all the others. Now if Lola only meows when it's dark and no light is on, she can suffer from anxiety. Lisa had that after Max' dead and I left a little light on, then it was better.
But as long as Lola eats well and is in good health you don't have to worry. It can also be the spring, love time for cats, lol !

Maybe Floyd is talking to her and she is answering, but maybe something else inside hurts. Remember SAR (Something Ain't Right)if we are not being ourselves could indicate something else. Could be a tooth, gum, etc.

She is probably missing Floyd if he was a big part of her life for a long time. Animals do grieve and they do notice when others are no longer there.

However, this is a completey normal thing and very much like us it's something they have to work through.

Just give her lots of love and time xxx

Did Moma already tell you this story? Her himalayan kitty (Murphy) grieved horribly when his WFT pal Kizzy died. He sat on the couch where Kizzy used to look out the window, and howled by the hour. He quit using his litter box and instead (immediately following her death) started going out the dog door and peeing where Kizzy had peed. He never used his litter box again. He was sooo sad. So forlorn. Moma couldn't get another dog at the time, so she sadly let Murphy go live with another family that had a very old golden retriever. The two of them bonded like glue, and the golden lived for several more years, in the company of his friend.

Moma says, "Never underestimate the bond that us four-leggeds can have with each other and with our people." Love runs deep.

That must be hard to hear her meow like that. Is she close to anyone else there?? It could be that she is just lonely or wakes up and is lonely. I have a female cat whose brother disappeared a long time ago, maybe a year, and she hasn't been the same since then. She is fine health wise but just lonely and the other cats pick on her so she stays by herself most of the time.
Hope she gets better soon.

I know they do morn just like we do. Angel was very reclusive for months after Wizard left us.

Our previous cat, Elsie, did this when our dog died. She really missed him and would go to the basement and cry near our dog's stuff.
I hope she'll feel better soon.

They definitely grieve. My old girl, Kitty Yumbum was originally one of eleven cats, and over the years they all died. When her last brother died, she pined. She just lay around and wasn't interested in anything. We thought we were going to lose her and that was when we brought Eric and Flynn home as tiny little kittens to keep her company. She hated them at first but keeping them in their place gave her something to do and soon they were all inseparable. She was a different cat after that.

Poor Lola. It does sound like she's missing her brofur. Kitties are such sweet, sensitive souls and it's so hard cause they don't understand what happened. Give her a hug for us!

Poor Lola. I mourned for a long time after I lost my son many years ago but snuggling up with SS helped a lot.

Aww! That sweet baby girl. I really feel for you and her. Babybella my Maine Coon who lost her brother Simba last year still misses her brother. She does the crying thing and she also started Grinding her teeth after he passed.
All I can do is comfort her when she starts the meowing and grinding her teeth. That seems to help a lot. They just need extra TLC. as much as you can give too.
Good Luck

Poor Lola.
I am wondering if Lola had a mom role with Floyd.

Spring brings out the maternal instincts in girl-cats. It may be exaserbating her grieving process.

I am sorry for you, I know that must make your grieving worse. At least you can take care of eachother.

I've heard that animals get depressed too.

Aw, that is kinda sad. I would just make sure you give her extra attention and extra loving so she knows she still has a good buddy. She'll come around.

Or maybe you need to adopt her another brother? :)

Angel Gracie=^o.o^= said...

I sure hope Lola is not sad. Be nice over at your place and give lots of head butts and snuggles. This might help her not to sound sad.

Oh poor little Lola. We just read all the coments and were impressed by all the wise advice. We don't think we can add anything more ~ except we agree Lola should have plenty of fuss and cuddles.

That is so sad. I hope Lola cheers up. :(

There's now doubt that Lola misses Floyd. But it also could be she is getting older too. Patches meows when she isn't getting any attention or if there isn't any food in her dish, but then she is fifteen years old. It could be all that together. Durn, with cats it's hard telling. Casper is totally out of character also. He has never slept near my husband but he's doing it now. When I sit watching TV he lays on my chest, he's never done that either. But he is also fifteen years old. Don't know what to tell you Amy. Just go with Lola's flow I guess.

Peachy screams a meow out in the middle of the night sometimes too....i call to her and she settles back down into some slumber...maybe kitties have nightmares too. Sometimes I even meow back at her....boy does she ever look surprised:)
Happy Easter my beloved friends and thank you for your friendship.
