UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Since it has been quite a long time since we have been active, we are going to be Under Construction for a while - trying new fonts, designs, and updating our sidebar stuff. Hopefully we will get it how we like it soon so it won't change too much!

Also - Can someone tell me how to get rid of the giant gap below this notice - I cannot figure out how to do it - thanks!!

GRRR - A quick non-cat frustration release!

Ok, so we have needed new couches for a while. Every time we have the money something comes up that is more important. So we now have the money, nothing has come up, so we went to get them last night. They are now discontinued, they don't ship store to store (a couple still had some) and they only deliver within the state the store is in. There may be one in Houston, but we are in Chicago, so by the time we went to get it the cost would double. It was an Ikea couch (and loveseat and ottoman but they had those still), and it was perfect - the back cushions are one piece, not separate pillows (those of you with cats that sleep on the back of the couch may understand why I like that), it was leather (so no fur sticks and barf doesn't soak in as fast), it was contemporary (the style I prefer) with nice simple clean lines, the right color and the cost was not too bad. Oh, and it fit the room (our current is way to big, not to mention falling apart). And there was a big enough gap at the bottom (not skirted and not to the floor - it had metal legs) so that it would be easy to retreive lost cat toys. We are looking for a nice cat friendly couch obviously. It is amazing that as soon as we had the money and no major financial issues, they discontinuted it - they have had it as long as I have been going to Ikea! They are replacing it but the new one (we saw a picture) is not cute, not the style I want, and looks kinda cheap actually. I did find a couch I like at a store in the city that is very similar, except the cost is way higher, as are all the ones I like. I keep getting suggestions to try certain places, and sure they have stuff but I want a very specific look (kind of the new take on mid-century modern - oh heck, there is a picture of the one I want on the website still - hang on I will go grab it).
It is much cooler in person.

You would think I could find something similar easily and there are some that are ok - some are tufted, which I am not a fan of (I picture cat barf in the crevices, plus I am not a fan of that look too much), and there are others that are close but either don't have the right color, or are very expensive. Like crazy super rich people must be the only customers for these expensive. I know there is so much other stuff going on with the cats and dogs out there and this is totally silly, I mean it is couches, it is just kind of the perfect example of how my life is - this stuff always happens because I (and my boyrfriend too) have this kind of luck. I know a lot of the bloggers out there have money troubles, and usually we do too, but finally, FINALLLY we could get a new couch (Brad got the money back from the IRS and decided to splurge instead of being super practicle and using it for bills, because right now we are keeping up ok as long as we don't get crazy with stuff - this was our one big splurge we had been waiting for since like 2008 to be honest with you - if I had to buy them we would be waiting a LOT longer - we have to actually save the cash because we refuse to buy on credit - last year the money I had in savings went to the floors because they were just so gross - like seriously gross - you have probably seen the old pics - and that was with editing most of the time). And now it is gone - discontinued. Again, I know it is not the end of the world I and it kind of makes me laugh because I should have known it would happen because we are not supposed to get a couch - we are supposed to keep our old broken crappy one apparently. At least this time it was not a sick cat needing vet bills paid - wait, maybe I shouldn't say that and jinx myself. Nah, we mentioned it to each other and everyone is fine.

Ok, thanks for letting me rant a bit.

Now back to our regular cat blogging!

Hey I just love that couch. Really cool piece of furniture. Hope you are able to find one. Im with you. Nothing on credit. My husband and I always buy 12months no interest. We never pay interest. We even got my truck for 60months no interest. We learned the hard way never ever put anything on a credit card unless you pay it off that month again no interest.

We SOOOO know how you feel. Everytime we think we're a teensie bit ahead, one of our cars goes in the shop! Sorry 'bout the couch. It is very cool!

That's a great looking couch; hope you can find something similar on the internet using the description from this one?...I hate it when they discontinue things you like, it's frustrating!...Good luck with the couch hunt; sometimes overstock.com has some good deals with free shipping??

(((Amy))) Been there. But kudos to you for resisting credit. Maybe this just means a better couch is on the horizon!

It is the same with Ikea here, and I just bought a new couch for my new place and I had to drive an additional 45 minutes to another location.

A friend made a joke to me that day that you may enjoy:

Ikea is Swedish for Not in Stock

Love the couch! Very cool!

That figures, doesn't it. Something better will come up for you. I know what you mean, one needs something that the barf won't soak through too quickly and that'll tear quickly.

We say that a good rant is a healthy rant!

Hopefully something you like even better comes in stock but I certainly understand your frustration. Kudos to you for resisting credit! And of course since I'm a CPA I have to say reduce your withholdings and put the extra money straight into a savings account each pay period instead of giving the IRS an interest free loan. Yeah, I know I'm annoying but I'm up to my eyeballs in tax returns so that's all I think about sometimes!

Rant on, it always works out that way when you finally can afford one or go to get what you want they don't have it anymore. Even little things that you like and the stores discontinued it. Drives you nuts. Hope you end up with something you really like.

We can so relate to that--maybe that means that you'll see something just as cool somewhere else?

Nice couch! I hate it when it seems someone is watching in the window to know when to zap you most effectively...None in Ikea Milwaukee? or North Shore? I hope one "magically" turns up at a nearby store at a reasonable price.
