So Barney has been bad lately - he is in that phase of kittenhood. First, he has learned how to jump up on the counters in the kitchen, and on to the stove (we keep the knobs off already because on at least 3 occasions I have bumped them, turned on the gas with no flame, and not noticed). Then, last night I noticed that someone (most likely Barney) had chewed through the wire on my headphones (thank goodness it was only the headphones and not something plugged into the wall). There was a left side but the right side was no longer attached. Then tonight we had takeout from The Cheesecake Factory (oh, shoot, I have a cheesecake in the fridge still - Red Velvet Cheesecake) and I had Fried Macaroni Balls - and he tried to take one! He started to go for my corn cakes and then faked me out and grabbed a Macaroni Ball! I caught him with it right away but the point is that he picked it up. He is always trying to steal stuff but this is the first time he actually got my food!
Oh, and the other badness in the house is that someone (I didn't see who - they are sneaky) has peed on the new floor! To be fair, there was a laundry basket that fell over and they were trying to pee on that (my clothes of course) but it got on the floor. But still - they were bad either way. At least it was dirty laundry, so it needed to wash anyway. I use this stuff called Out that a girl at work recommended - it works really well either on carpets and things in the laundry (thank goodness). I will wash the stuff twice but it really probably only needs the one time.
I love the cats, don't get me wrong, but sometimes I just want them to understand English so I could tell them to behave and actually have them understand. Heck, even Spanish would be ok because Brad speaks that pretty well. I will try to have more pictures tomorrow - right now Barney and Virgil are running around like maniacs because it is time for their dinner.

Oh no ! Barney is a bad cat !
You need take it to the etiquette school ^^
Ohhh, Barney! You shouldn't misbehave so much. We hope you grow out of the chewing phase soon, beans really don't like that. But they might as well get used to the jumping thing, 'cuz that just happens! We're cats, we like high places, what do they expect? MOL
Hey, thanks so much for your purrs and good thoughts for our Bugsy on his surgery today, as you know all went well and he'll be home tomorrow. We appreciate your thoughtfulness very much! (And our Mommy envies you that your work is quieter than her work! LOL)
Big purrs and hugs,
The Kitty Krew and The Mommy
It is very frustrating when they get on the stove and counters. Kirby has started doing that! We have squirt bottles all over the house to use on him!
HA. Go feed those maniacs.
We love them because they're such characters and then they destroy things...ahh, cats! Gotta love 'em!
Kittens in the "teenage" stage can be really mischievous! This sounds kind of cute although I am sure it wasn't that cute at the time.
By the way, Franklin is still doing this kind of stuff even though he's four - especially the counter jumping!
Oh Amy, I tried not to laugh, but I know the feelings all too well!
A couple of times my guys have just about reduced me to tears... not that any one thing was so very bad, or even requiring severe sternness... it was many small things, no way to explain to them what they'd done and, well, you know... just all too much for one day!
Even with days like that, they're so worth it!
Your kitties sound like us! Ferris loves to steal food off of plates and Maggie has been know to pee in the laundry basket when she's mad about something......like the foster kittens.
Oh well -- I guess Barney is in his "terrible twos" phase. It's all part and parcel of having a kitten. That's too funny about him stealing your macaroni ball!
I hope you don't have a repeat of the peeing incident -- that can be more than annoying.
Hang in there Mom! It is just a phase it will be over before you know it...
And so you don't feel bad.. Illy shredded some of Dad's important work papers!
Oh Amy I feel your life with new kitten pain. Madi was our 2nd cat...Milky Way lived with us for 14 1/2 years...THE two cats were nothing alike. He was laid back his entire life. As a kitten she was always into and on things the higher the better. Even chewed on the decorative top on our Grandfather clock...oh the things she got into. I often said if she had been our first cat there would not have been a 2nd. I can't imagine life with your bunch....
Madi and Mom
when you are as cute as barney you can get away with it. i should know. i do bad things all the time but shh dont tell anybody.
Ooooo Barney...you're a little freshie!!! Fried Macaroni Balls?!? Mmmmmm...maybe he thought they were a really good smelling, tasty toy???
That is naughty yet I must admit I don't blame him the food sounds delicious.Ariel tries to steal food from my plate all the time.
Uh Oh Barney...you is gonna be in trouble.
Kittens, like little babies, can be naughty sometimes. We read in a book that kitties like to chew on cords because of the little zap they get from the electricity. Weird, huh?
Oh dear! We hope that Barney minds himself! Those could be serious! We don't want to hear that a kitty electrocuted! Or that any one was gassed!
Oh Barney you must try not to be so naughty. Its bad to get on the hobs and tops..
Hugs GJ xx
Naughty Barney! He sounds exactly like my Charlie.
Oh Barney! You're not a bad cat, you're a kitten learning the ropes and exploring everything. Yoo don't know wot the rules are so it's trial and error.
Yoo remind us of Alfie Marshall ~ he did and STILL DOES these things (he will be one year old on September 1st 2009). For example, Alfie walks on the kitchen work tops, (despite being told NO!), he jumps on top of the cooker hotplates (so Mom bans him from the kitchen when she's cooking), He tries to steal food wiv his paw when we're eating, he chews telephone cables, BUT he is also the CUTEST nearly mancat in the whole world according to MOM.
AND Mom said I did all those things too when I was a kitten and she said Alfie will grow more sensible (paws crossed) as he gets older.
So Mom said: Enjoy Barney's kittenhood and don't worry about a stinky phone cable, or poxy washing ~ 'cos an adorable kitten is worth far more!
Smooches to Barney.
Milo xx
Thank goodness Melvin is too little to jump anywhere but on to the couch.
I'm lucky there.
But I remember when Spaz would always sneak stuff. Baaah. I hated it!
Barney is cool
I like also Fried Macaroni Balls ;)
LOL
And my Mommy don't like that :(
hugs
Kareltje =^.^=
Oh Barney, you must behave before you get yourself into trouble young man! Cricket I swear, went through 3 headphone wires in a span of two months once.
I was so sad to read that Virgil has been ill! Poor sweet baby! You must be so worried for him Amy. I will think of him when I light a candle in my kitty votive holder. Please feel better honey!
I'm glad you like the new floors. Sometimes cats and the word "new" do not get along. :) That peeing is something Cricket would pull and she's do it with pride too. (sigh) I will have to try that cleaner.
I hope Virgil feels better, the other kitties adjust and that you have a happier weekend!
Hugs,
Lorianna
Hi! Just coming back again to let you know that Bugsy's posted another update today, he's doing fine and adjusting to his cone. Thanks for stopping by and lifting his spirits on Friday!
Purrs and hugs,
The Kitty Krew and The Mommy
Barney is just like Mahzuz! Sometimes he makes umie gets angry but umie never punish him - he's spoiled!
Bad? We think Barney is mischievous! What kitten has never done these things? :-)
