Hi Everyone - I know that some of you are experience the same problem I am - getting the operation aborted message when you go visit someone's blog. It is the followers gadget. It doesn't work with Internet Explorer. And Blogger knows and hasn't fixed it since it was reported in May. Their only solution - use a different browser, delete the gadget or move it to the bottom, or just learn to deal with it. I found if you hit the back button enough times it will eventually load ok. But I am finding this is taking more and more backs for me - and I can't use a different browser because, well lets just say there are a bunch of reasons, not the least of which is that my cousin works for Microsoft, and I do like to check the blogs from work, and if I put something on my machine I would get in trouble. I get the blogs I visit through my RSS feed but there is no way to comment there. If I don't comment on your site and you have a followers gadget anywhere other than the bottom of the page, don't think I am ignoring you, I am probably just having problems getting to you. I have tried a couple sites today and after 6 or 7 times hitting the back button I have given up. I am going to try again from home but like I said - I am reading, just can't comment on all of them right now - but it doesn't mean I have left your blog following. Thanks for understanding and I promise I will keep trying.
If anyone has any trouble getting to my page, please feel free to go into my profile and drop me an email - I have my followers at the bottom which is supposed to work but I am never sure.

Amy we so excited to post here we posted on yesterday's I believe the one with Barney climbing all over creations.
we would like to be listed as a follower on yours too but don't see where to do it...as I said I'm very new at this...Madi and Mom
If it's not one thing...it's another! Computers will eventually drive the entire world CRAZY!
Interesting... You say putting it at the bottom fixes it?
We have not user IE for a long time. It quit running so I started using Foxfire.
From what I have read, if you put the followers lower down it should be ok - below is what I copied from Bloggers known issues in the help section (which they have redone and have moved around - you have to go to help, then pick blogger status (on the left) and then pick known issues (it used to be an option in help). If you want to move it you can either drag it lower in the sidebar or do what I did and put it in the bottom section - since the layouts are different it is hard to say what will work for everyone. Mine has an option to add gadgets below the blog posts and sidebar. Right now mine is almost at the bottom - it has something to do with it's ability to load (which is why hitting back works - somehow it loads it in portions and kind of holds them until all of it fully loads but I don't know how it works completely). Anyway, here is what Blogger posted.
Some users are seeing an 'Operation Aborted' error message when trying to load their blogs from Internet Explorer. We're looking into this and will update this message when we have a fix.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Update (May 26): We are still working on resolving this bug. This only affects viewers using IE to view the blog; for right now, blog owners can either move the Followers gadget lower in their sidebar, or remove it altogether. Either action will eliminate the pop-up dialog box in IE.
We will update this post when a fix has been made. — latest update on Thursday, May 21, 2009

What a drag. I love followers. Does mine give you trouble too?
Sorry to hear about your difficulty, it's nice to be able to check out blogs during the day. Why not just ask your IT guy if you could have Mozilla, it is an excellent product. As for your cousin, no job lasts forever, especially when it's at Microsoft! They have been on the way out for a long time now.
Well, hmmm. Now I know. I always just hit the backbutton once and it works.
We are indeed having that problem off and on. Very annoying!
Hope you have a great day!
Love, uSSSSS
We ended up moving the Followers widget to our footer a few weeks ago. I can't believe the issue hasn't been fixed yet. Aaaaarrrggghh!
You can follow someone without having the widget on on your blog! We had removed the widget completely on our old blogger blog before moving our blog to WordPress.
Wow - thanks for this! I had no idea. We use Firefox at home, but I use IE at work and have never had a problem.
And thanks for coming by our blog!
