UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Since it has been quite a long time since we have been active, we are going to be Under Construction for a while - trying new fonts, designs, and updating our sidebar stuff. Hopefully we will get it how we like it soon so it won't change too much!

Also - Can someone tell me how to get rid of the giant gap below this notice - I cannot figure out how to do it - thanks!!

Updates and BIG news!!

So we went to the vet today to have Virgil's eyes checked - the left is quite infected and the right is just starting so he has eye meds to take twice a day. He is not as tollerant of it as Lola always was, but I think if I give him a treat after each one he will be ok - that is what I always did with Lola. Virgil was pretty nervous, probably because the last time he was at the vet in December was when he got neutered. But that was his first home so he was ok after a few minutes.

So, now for the big news. We went to the vet for Virgil, but while we were there we found out that a kitten had been left there the day before - someone just left him there in a box with some cat food (he is a little kitten, so it wasn't really good for him, but my thinking was at least they didn't leave him with nothing). He has an upper respiratory infection, but otherwise he is in good shape - very clean, no fleas or anything, like Virgil has when he first got there. He is about 4 weeks old and very lovey and snuggly. His name is Barney. You may be wondering - how do you know that will be his name? Well, as I have mentioned I had wanted to get a kitten so Virgil would have a younger kitty to play with, since the big kitties think he is annoying. I completely fell in love with Barney when I saw him (seriously, show me a kitty and I will fall in love no matter what). I took a few pictures, and was thinking about getting him. Brad hadn't gone with this time, so I called him from the car, and he said that since I am the primary care giver to the cats it was up to me, but he was fine with it. So I got home, and I knew I had to take him. I don't know what his first couple weeks were but I am a believer that every cat (and dog for that matter) needs a good, loving home. If Floyd wasn't doing so well it would be different, but he is doing so much better than I ever expected, so I think it will be ok. Barney will be at the vet until he is better, and then we can bring him home. The good thing is we still have Virgil's kitten stuff, and we haven't un-kitten proofed the stairs yet, so it should be nice and easy. He is such a cutie too - you can't tell from the pictures but he has a white "stripe" on his side - almost like a lightening bolt (ala Harry Potter). I actually thought about Harry for a name, but I didn't want to use any of the names from other kitty blogs I read (I also thought about Charlie and Milo - but again, they are our blog friends too!) So I was trying to think of a good boy kitty name (a girl would have been easier - I have 2 already picked for future pets - Trixie and Minnie). I know 5 is the limit (they say you should never have more cats than rooms, and we have 3 bedrooms, living room, kitchen, not counting laundry room and bathrooms that is 5), but I just couldn't resist him. Anyway, here are some pictures I took some pictures with my phone, so they aren't perfect, but they give you a good idea of what he looks like. He is quite a snuggler, and very friendly, and I think he will be a great addition - and hopefully he can be a buddy for Virgil. Anyway, here are the pictures!

ETA: Just so everyone knows, Barney is not named after the big purple dinosaur - I was going through the names on TV shows I like, but he is named after Barney on How I Met Your Mother, not the dinosaur.

Shadow - that is so funny, I was adding that he wasn't named after the Dino at about the same time your mom must have posted that comment - because it wasn't there before I started to edit, but was there after I finished!

Oh, Amy! He's precious! And I love Barney. Of course I had the source wrong... I had to skip down to the pic before finishing the post, and with all the grey, I immmediately thought, "Barney Rubble!" ;-)

Congratulations!
