UNDER CONSTRUCTION!

Since it has been quite a long time since we have been active, we are going to be Under Construction for a while - trying new fonts, designs, and updating our sidebar stuff. Hopefully we will get it how we like it soon so it won't change too much!

Also - Can someone tell me how to get rid of the giant gap below this notice - I cannot figure out how to do it - thanks!!

Quick Trixie Update

Hi Everyone! Sorry it has been a while since I posted - things were crazy this weekend. We had our tax appointment on Saturday, and then the rest of the weekend was spent with the cats out - all of them. Trixie has gotten very brave. Thursday I had her out without Lola and she spent a bunch of time upstairs but eventually decided to come and check things out. She was ok in the kitchen but still nervous about the TV in the living room. Friday we had both out at different times (I think - I really don't remember it 100% because I was tired). Saturday we got home and I had both out - the issue is that I can't have the master bedroom, where Trixie was staying, open when Lola is out because I don't trust her not to go in and pee on the bed. But it was ok and they both were down and spent time together. There was less hissing from everyone and it seemed to be ok. Trixie spent a bit more time in the living room. Sunday was the big day - Trixie was brave in the living room and sat on the couch and everything. She ate dinner with the others and did really well. She even played a bit with Barney. At that point we decided it was time to see how she did staying out overnight - she is older so she is not going to be having the same issues with the stairs that the others did when they were super little, and she can totally take care of herself. It worked great and she did great. This morning she came down for breakfast without being prompted and ate with everyone and they all did great, so we are letting her stay out today - since Lola is in her room, the master bedroom door is open.

My two biggest concerns were 1) would she use the main litter boxes (she did) and 2) would she be scared of the TV (she was at first but by Sunday it didn't bother her at all - I think she saw the other cats sitting by it and realized it wasn't scary). I didn't take pictures because I didn't want to freak her out, but I did get some video of her and Gus sitting pretty close together that I will post later. Trixie was there and Gus decided to sit near her. He likes to watch her - I think he is keeping an eye on her. Stella is still leary, but that doesn't surprise me, since she is stil that way with Lola. Virgil is ok, and so are Gus and Barney and Kirzon never really had a problem with her, as long as she let him sleep in her bed (she does and he slept in it last night too).

She has definitely made a ton of progress already and I am very proud of her. She is a little spitfire for sure. Oh, and she now has a middle name - for some reason Trixie Belle seemed to go together really well and I have started calling her that sometimes. She seems to know her name pretty well (as good as any other cat) and she is just such a sweetheart!

Ok, that is the update for now. I am working on visiting everyone - it is hopefully going to be a quiet week here (last week was end of month, and our end of fiscal year is at the end of this month). I hope everyone is doing ok and that things are going good for everyone! See you sometime this week I hope!

My gosh amighty. You are an extraordinary Cat Wrangler and I am not saying that in a joking manner. I envy your ability.

Wow, amazing that she adjusted just like that. I'm not surprised that Stella is a little leery--those calico girls have their attitude, you know. :-) I hope she's playing with Gus soon!

Sounds like your newest kitty is going to be a family member in no time at all. I sure wish I could get Joya to like her sibcats. We fear she's going to spend the rest of her life in the bedroom, though she does seem happy.

I am so happy for you and for Trixie Belle, and the rest of your crew! It's so much fun to watch a kitten blossom and forge relationships.

Such great progress! It sounds like you have a lot of patience and really know how to make sure all your kitties are comfortable and happy, so I'm not surprised Trixie is settling right in. And Trixie Belle is an adorable name!

Great update!

"Trixie Belle" reminds me of Trixie Beldon. I loved that series (and the Nancy Drew books) when I was young. :-)
